  • Duration: 7 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: San Ignacio, Cayo District
  • Product code: SLBW
This tour departs at 6:00am towards the Mennonite farmlands of Spanish Lookout.

At Aguacate, we find a pristine broadleaf forest with species such as Slaty-tailed Trogon, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, Ruddy Woodcreeper and Strong-billedWoodcreeper.

The forest merges into a small lake where Blue-wing Teals, Wood Storks, Least Grebes and Yellow-crowned Night Herons can be found. Above the canopy, look out for White Hawks and Gray-headed Kites.

Next, we head to the open fields, playgrounds for Aplomado Falcons and Crested Caracaras and where White-tailed Hawks soar, looking for a meal. These fields are also excellent for brilliant feathered friends such as the Vermilion Flycatcher, Blue Ground-Dove, and Black-cowled Orioles. Towards the end of the day, we will spend some time near the river, for species like Mangrove Swallow, Amazon Kingfisher and perhaps even the elusive and super-cute American Pygmy Kingfisher.

Our next stop is at Countryside Park. While the park is often used for weddings and events, it's also a peaceful place for casual birdwatching. There are shady trees and a small pond that attracts a variety of birds. Sightings here include: Eastern Kingbird, Scarlet Tanager, Tennessee Warbler, Western Sandpiper, Eastern Meadowlark and more.

Breakfast and lunch is included in this tour
